8-4 Play 10/14/2010: WAY OF THE WARRIOR

The demo for Monster Hunter Portable 3rd has hit Japan, and who better to discuss it with than Naughty Dog Community Strategist Arne Meyer? …Well, just about anyone, actually. But Mr. Meyer does have plenty of interesting things to say about helping launch the Xbox and Xbox 360, working in the studio that brought us Uncharted 2, and more. Also: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, Kirby’s Epic Yarn, and what Japanese gamers have to say about TGS and the 3DS.

This is a really great podcast. Already, even after five episodes, it’s one of the top three gaming podcasts out there. Y’all just mesh perfectly. Up there with the Giant Bombcast and Weekend Confirmed. It’s too close to call.

Next week, or some week, you should do an episode where it’s as if Hiroko is the guest and you ask what’s up with her, as everyone knows Mark and John, and Sprsk is like the up-and-comer you get to know as you along, but Hiroko seems like an established person but I (or others I think) don’t really know what she’s about.

Other than that, great show again this week! Best gaming podcast on the web. Please keep it weekly, it’s become a nice part of my Fridays. Get CheapyD or Esteban on some time!

A Life Well Wasted used to be my favorite video game related podcast because Robert Ashley talked about video game related subjects that other shows didn’t. Then Mr. Ashley got high and forgot about the show. Started working on his next “I went to Hong Kong” album or whatever. But much like his forty-five to an hour, you guys are giving me perspective on a segment of the industry that I wish was covered more, and talk about subjects that are rarely touched upon by your peers. So now you’re my favorite show. Keep up the good work, and remember, don’t get high and forget about your show!

I love that you guys ask the hard questions and get guests that I never knew I wanted to listen to.

I was wondering if you guys could talk about the this game

It a tycoon game where you run a game development studio. It’s been getting a lot of buzz over on GAF because the iPhone game just come out in English.

I wanted to know what the sequel on PC was like. I downloaded it but It’s in Japanese. I believe it’s free and i’m sure you’d love. And heck maybe you could even do the localization on it

Loving the podcast so far, having Marc back on my iPod is great. Always respected his take on games even if not always my own.

I was interested in the sort of surroundings you guys live in so searched the tube Shibuya. Looks so cool! Especially this photo sums up what I think of as the slightly mental but in a good way japanese lifestyle:

I’m not usually one for foreplay, but I figured I’d give you guys a chance to sway me. Now, 5 episodes in, I have realized that the 8-4 Play podcast is the epitome of cool. You are everything I have ever wanted in a podcast: action, comedy, and romance, mixed with more than enough mystery to keep me on the edge of my seat. 8-4 Play changed my life, and will continue to change the lives of others as well. It is the new hotness.

Love the podcast guys, keep up the good work. Although I do have one complaint..
    源さん、静かすぎます!1podcastに3回ぐらい話します。。。声を聞かせてくださいよ!

I don’t want to be that guy who keeps posting over and over but I have a cool idea. I think it would be cool to add all the funny stuff you say during the sound check, during the brakes and the stuff after you say after you say goodbye. Take all of at and add it to the end of the podcast after the music. It not only gives people more insight of who you guys are but it also makes the podcast longer. Just a thought. Keep casting your pods.

  9. AndrewS says:

You guys were laughing and giggling, talking about how it was “sketchy” that the composer of Lords of Shadow was on Spanish radio talking about a sequel. I guess you forgot the game was developed in Spain?

I love the podcast, but just wanted to mention that.
