I agree with Mark.
E3 was just monotonous and lame this year.
Great show guys. Also, I’d just like to say listening to you four talk about the press conferences, was infinitely more entertaining than the entirety of this years E3.
Keep up the hard work! But don’t burn yourselves out.
I’m curious to know more about what you guys think about Miyamoto basically saying that Nintendo is not working on a 3DS refresh but instead they’re working on the next mobile product.
Does that mean a short life span for the 3DS? Or a product that could be sold in parallel to the 3DS? Did he say “replacement” or just “next thing”? Maybe a Nintendo phone that can play 3DS games on one long 3D screen that can display the 2 3DS screens as well as regular smart phone functions.
Very disappointed with Square Enix (barring Eidos) this year…well for many years now to be honest. Also disapppointed on The Last Guardian’s absence. Since you guys work in the Japanese gaming industry, while you all may not know the stage of development for certain games, are you privy to any information as to the working ethic/style/management/etc of infamous Japanese studios/publishers and why their respective games take so long (thinking along the lines of Polyphony, Team Ico, Nomura’s team on Kingdom Hearts/Versus XIII)…
Man, I wish 8-4 was a weekly podcast about Japan, games and japanese games. Can’t wait for the next episode.
This year’s E3 had it’s moments. But a lot of the time it was all crap (I’m looking at you wonderbook). And I’m really disappointed with the lack, if there was any, of games for PSVita. I hope Vita would be able to get out of this hell hole. Oh and btw as I remember you did a Monster Hunter special and a RE special podcast. Could you make a different special next time? A Tales of series or Kingdom Hearts special? Better yet an Indie Game special? Jus askin if you can. Coz I’m a fan now! More power to the 8-4some!

Amazing.
Award for most clueless comment on the podcast goes to Mark for complaining about Joe Montana being brought out to promote Madden. Really, Mark?! I still love you, Gaming Jesus.
The Last of Us borrows a lot of themes and concepts from the novel “The Road” by Cormac McCarthy. I highly recommend anyone interested in post-apocalyptic stories read the book. It’s a dark and haunting tale but they guys at Naughty Dog studios openly admit that it was a major influence on their game.
