    You don’t need amiibos for the Animal Crossing mini-games, the New 3DS and Wii U can be obtained from the fortune cookies at Timmy + Tommy’s.

    Random NPCs (non-villagers) will also visit every day and have items for sale, so 90% of the content from the update is free and doesn’t require amiibos.
