Thanks for listening! And Happy New Year!

Great podcast, as usual.
However, I was disappointed not to hear any talk about Final Fantasy XIII-2. I was curious about how you guys reacted to its relatively low sales (compared to the original).
Considering the lack of Sony owned franchises able to drive the sales of its new hardware and the uncertainty over the time frame before a PS Vita Monster Hunter release, do you think it possible that Sony would have re-purposed The Last Guardian as a Vita exclusive? (Also could explain the delays and high-profile departure for that game).
Sure it’s not on the current list of games available at launch in the U.S. And there would be the obligatory backlash from PS3 owners, which Sony would appease 6 months later by releasing the game on the PS3 with extra features/dlc. But right now Sony needs to increase the installed user base for its new system asap to attract publishers and giving a reason to its core user base to go out and buy the system is critical. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Thanks for all the great podcasts this year. Happy New Year to everyone at 8-4.
I apologise for the re-post, but I wouldn’t be doing this if it wasn’t necessary. I’m really out of options on who to contact, and definitly in need of an answer on the matter. So please do not see this as some sort of weird internet stalking method. I really don’t know what to do. Please respond as soon as possible! Thank you so much.
-RE-POST:
Hello guys! Loved the podcast as always. I do, however, still have a question that remains unanswered.
A few podcasts ago, you replied to a few questions regarding Degrees and other information. However, I need to be sure of what was meant to be said in that response.
Is a college degree not really necessary in order to work there? Or do we still need to acquire one?
And if so, does this scenario only apply to 8-4? Or is it the same situation for other localizaion companies in Japan?
I had thought of majoring in something (it appears we do not have an option to major in Japanese, but rather minor in it.) related to this part of the industry. I thought of what you said about being a really good writer and such. Considering something related to that area. I’m still not sure.
I just want to make sure i’m not missing anything important.
The reason why I keep bringing this up, is because I’m still trying to grasp a few key aspects regarding this part of the industry. And I feel that the best way to do so, is to contact companies.
I’d be extremely thankful if someday I could get these little questions answered!
Hey everybody! Thanks again for posting a great podcast over the holiday break. It’s always comforting to know that it’s not quite the ENTIRE world that grinds to a halt over that week. Your hard work is appreciated!
I also just wanted to share one small nugget of feedback since you frequently ask for it, although it doesn’t really apply to this episode in particular.
I’ve found that this is the case with pretty much every good podcast, but you guys often mention how long you’re droning on regarding a particular topic or, more generally, how long the podcast itself is running. I understand that you guys have other stuff to do and need to catch trains or whatever and THAT’s a big reason you fear running long, and if that’s the case, then no problem. But please, just know that we–as listeners–will seriously keep listening to you guys for as long as you want to go. Don’t ever cut yourself short because you think it’s too long for US. Again, if it is for you, then by all means, do so.
I guess I can’t really speak for all the listeners, but for ME…the stop button is right there, y’know? I could shut you guys up anytime I wanted! But I don’t; I tune in because I love the talk, and the more the better as far as I’m concerned. Talk until the tape runs out, if you’ve got stuff to say! I think most of us would agree that your best episodes are the epic, super-long ones. But again, just my opinion.
And like I said, it’s not just you guys…it’s just a function of being conscientious hosts, I assume, and that’s much appreciated as well.
Anyway, thanks for recording. Great episode!
Interesting podcast, but man I’m really glad I watched this podcast as I now know of gravity rush and awaiting it’s north american release. I really hope atlus or nis america gets it because their audience.
Also, I’d like to point out that your presumptions of THE LAST OF US is really off and you should look into a bit because the whole idea behind it is based on a REAL parasite that is able to take over insects in south america so it’s not zombies. It is much more realistic than zombies :D here’s a informative video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XuKjBIBBAL8
Great podcast as usual! Not having JJ on for a while made me really understand what an important role he’s become in the show. It wasn’t as apparent in the beginning, but I really think in these later episodes he’s sort of become the “boke” of the group. Whether intentional or not, he always seems to spout out funny/crazy ideas and statements that are immediately smacked down by the rest of the group, and he makes me laugh regularly. (Example: Robin Hood Uncharted) Mark revels in his ‘cranky old man’ routine, which is equally great, Hiroko seems to do her best to ask insightful questions when there’s a break in the banter, and John seems to waver between voice of reason and funny quip guy. I haven’t quite figured out everyone else’s yet, but I have to say compared to 2010, 2011′s podcasts have definitely gotten me more strange looks on the train from busting out laughing. Keep up the great work!
